Is anybody else going to Rutland in October. We are hoping to be there for the saturday on our first Vago event! (probably come last, but somebody has to!) How do you register as there doesn't seem to be anything on the RSC website other than the dates at this stage? I assume there are seperate start times for the other boats and it's not done as a handicap?

Yep we'll be there again. Last year was our first Vago event too (other than the training weekend). A worthy choice, perhaps a bit scary, but still worthy!
I think last year we entered on the morning but I'm sure the details will be posted here soon.
Last year the Vagos went off 2nd after the 2000s. Behind us were the 4000s and then the 5000s. It didn't take long for the 5000s to catch us! |

Yep... but the 4's and 5's didn't survive as well as us on the downwind ride when it got to 30+ mph :)
I'll be there :)
(Full info will be posted as soon as it arrives) |

I will be there its a great event and I wouldn't miss it for the world. I will have the same crew that has only just started talking to me when she found out I took the standard main last time and didn't use it. but it was so much fun plaining from one end to the other, the beat up wind was a little hard though.
It is a good first event though lots of room and loads of good sailors that can help you if you need it |

| Sounds great guys, I am looking forward to putting some faces to names and picking up a few tips, especially on rig tension( convinced mine is too loose but set up as in manual). Better brush up on the rules although our emphasis will be on enjoyment rather than winning! |

Still waiting for my 'half decent result', so I will be there for the fun After a disappointing wind at Grafham, my crew is coming back for more, believing you never get light wind at Rutland! |

Me too! We're looking forward to this, we can only do the saturday but as it's our First Vago event it will probably be as much as we can handle! Should be a good turn out. I have now downloaded the latest 2009-2012 set of rules as it's a few years since I looked at these and if they had reversed the port/starboard rule I thought I ought to know! I suppose the next thing to consider is Drysuit or wetsuit??

Nothing to consider here...
It's in October - can only be a DRYSUIT!
Especially if Richard is the helm! |

But is a drysuit warmer than a wetsuit?????
Got me thinking though. Perhaps it would be an idea to invest in a winter steamer before Rutland. |

I find a drysuit is only warmer if you wear base layer thermals and a fleece. Otherwise you get all sweaty...and cold! But if the sun comes out you get baked! |
