Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th April 2009.
Draycote Water Sailing Club hosted the first Laser Vago Open of 2009. With significant wind shifts praise must be given for excellent course setting.
Both sail configurations were represented in both the single and double handed competitions with several new entrants joining established names. The sometimes challenging strong winds, gusts and shifts on Saturday resulted in capsizes and positions changing hands throughout the fleet. However, by the end of the day Martin and Emma Keen were leading the fleet while Dave Baxter was leading the single handers.
Sunday started with lighter winds (F2-3) and it was the lulls rather than the gusts that provided the challenge and new race winners. Dave Baxter made best use of the lighter wind conditions to consolidate his position as leading single hander and as overall winner.
With many position changes in all 6 races the fleet wonders whether Martin an Emma will be able to retain their Inland Nationals title at Grafham on 13th and 14th June.
